1990

Ernest and Barbara Hershberger start Homestead Furniture in a converted chicken coop.

1999

Word spreads about Homestead’s high-quality, custom Amish-made furniture, prompting the company to open its own manufacturing facility.

2000

Homestead builds a warehouse to accommodate its continued growth.

2001

To showcase an extraordinary range of high-end designs and capabilities, Homestead opens a 35,000-sq.-ft. retail store.

2007

Homestead builds a new 14,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing factory across the street.

2008

Ernest Hershberger founds Abner Henry (named for his father and grandfather), Homestead’s trade-only sister company, to serve the luxury designer community.

2015

The Gardens at Homstead open, complete witha wterfall, arboretum, pond and event space. The factory is expanded to its current 42,000 sq. ft.

2018

Homestead rebrands to Homestead Furniture and Design Center and is renovated inside and out, adding a private Abner Henry Gallery.

2019

Homestead launches its designer program to give designers exclusive access. An additional outdoor showroom is added as Homestead expands into outdoor living.

2020

Abner Henry attracts The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration. A leather showroom is added for a total of 47,000 sq. ft. of retail space.

2023

Abner Henry launches the limited-edition collection in collaboration with The Met, exemplifying the perfect blend of art and design.

2024

The Homestead Yurt debuts, allowing for overnight stays on the campus.

2025

Homestead Furniture and Design Center will celebrate 35 years!
