2014 COLOR TRENDS -

OH SO INDIGO - From the fashion runways of Paris and Milan to trendsetting home furnishings collections, darker tones of blue have never been more in vogue. The perennially popular blue-and-white combination is made new by pairing deep, rich blues with cream or gray. Look for Asian influences, especially Hmong-inspired patterns with touches of ruby and oxblood. These beautiful blues are deep and richly hued but not as dark as navy. Creams and grays add sophistication to indigo marine patterns, toiles, and bold dragon and geisha motifs. Graphic Hmong patterns are accented with deep reds.

ORGANIC ELEGANCE - A trend toward all things of the earth, with an emphasis on natural fibers and nature themes, there’s a decided resurgence of shades of brown. Camel, vicuna and lighter, earthy browns – along with shades of copper and gold – are playing an increasingly important role in home décor. There’s a move toward richly textured fabrics, so matelasses, deep velvets and highly woven patterns play a dominant role in base cloths. Tribal designs and animal prints also continue to be strong, but what’s freshest are reptile patterns, from crocodile to python to lizard.

DOUBLE DUTY DURABLE - With the introduction of micro-denier fibers and advanced fabric treatments, we no longer have to choose between high performance and beautiful, touchable style. Today’s performance fabrics – wovens, prints and even leathers – feature a sumptuous hand and rich colors that are indistinguishable from their less durable counterparts, yet they are impervious to stains and fading. For 2014, we are introducing more than 200 fabrics and leathers protected by hyper-durable Crypton® and Sunbrella® technology.

Digital printing allows artists to create fabrics with an ever-expanding color palette and sophisticated shading, while new weaving technology replicates hand-woven fabrics with an increasing range of patterns and mix of materials. New state-of-the-art looms can weave almost anything that a designer dreams.

The new fabrics in UrbanStudio this season have a hip, contemporary, almost modern vibe. We’ve chosen bright, acid tone colors – many with a graphic, high-tech look. Each fabric is unique and surprising for different reasons.
